About UserTesting

UserTesting needs a Jr UX Researcher to help us deliver on our brand promise to eliminate bad user experiences from the world.

We're a fast-growing start-up in Mountain View (right off 101) in our 7th year of business. As you probably guessed from our name, we do … drum roll … user testing!  More specifically, remote user testing. We’ve built a large panel of people who are available on-demand to perform task-based usability tests on websites and mobile apps. We’re an important part of the product development process for many companies, including Google, Amazon, Facebook, Walmart, Groupon, and Twitter.

We’re looking for a smart, fun, and effective person to join the Research Team! There’s a short video about us on this page.

Job Description

As a Jr UX Researcher, you will learn how to help a variety of clients get the most out of the UserTesting tool. You will independently plan, execute, and analyze qualitative and quantitative research studies for mobile, tablet, and desktop interfaces. Most of our clients work in E-commerce, Gaming, Education, Health, Non-profit, and B2B.

A typical day might have you going from a project kick-off call for one client, to watching and annotating videos for another, to brainstorming the best research approach with your fellow research team members. You’ll also work closely with our dedicated account managers on presenting your research and findings to clients. When you’re not helping clients, you might be writing a blog post, planning a webinar, or conducting an internal research study.

Between the in-house UX training, breadth of clients you will work with, and growth opportunities, you will quickly become an experienced UX professional!

Our Ideal Candidate

  • Bachelor’s Degree in HCI, Human Factors, Cognitive Science, Experimental Psychology, or related field
  • Experience studying user behavior and opinion through for example user testing, interviews, observation, surveys, or A/B testing
  • Ability to analyze both qualitative and quantitative research data
  • Effectively communicate results in a written report and over the phone to clients
  • Ability to build rapport and inspire clients' trust in our company, team, and tools
  • Highly organized and flexible, since you will work on several projects at a time and need to be able to keep track of different clients’ needs and priorities
  • Enjoys working independently, but plays well with others
  • Willing to openly and positively give and receive feedback from teammates
  • A natural aptitude for technology; the ability to quickly learn new technologies and troubleshoot them independently

Special Considerations For

  • Graduate degree in a related field
  • Professional experience in UX
  • Public speaking or teaching experience
  • Customer service experience in any industry
  • Multi-lingual
  • Big bonus points if you’ve used our service!
